20 tag 2

This is a beauty tag where I answer 20 beauty questions relating to my makeup/skin care routine. I love reading these types of posts because it’s a great way to get to know person behind the blog. These questions are from Carol of intrice.blogspot.com. (She has a lovely blog) !

You can either see yourself as a wave in the ocean or you can see yourself as the ocean - Oprah
  1. Do you remember your first makeup item?
My first makeup item was a lipstick from my mom. When I was younger, I went to Dance Academy and after my first recital, I took my mom lipstick that was used on me for the dance. I forgot the name but I remember I was obsessed with that lipstick.
  2. Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?
I guess my go-to mascaras are Benefit Roller Lash and Benefit they’re Real! I haven’t been wearing mascara lately because of allergies, it doesn’t matter what brand the mascaras are, my eyes still get watery. So, I have been applying Vaseline instead and it works great.
  3. What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?
I like to have full coverage. I know people think with full coverage, your makeup is going to be heavy and look cakey but that isn’t true. There is a technique that you can apply to your foundation that will allow your pretty face to still look “natural”.
  4. Favorite high-end brand?
I really like Fenty Beauty by Rihanna. They have nice color selections, products are long-lasting, and has very good quality. Best of all, I have yet to have an allergic reaction from using her makeup. The bonus part of this makeup company is that they have the perfect shade for everyone no matter what the product is. Splurging on Fenty Beauty is worth it! Also, I love Nars, Urban Decay Cosmetics, BH Cosmetics, MORPHE, Too Faced, Bare Minerals, Anastasia Beverly Hills  and Anastasia Beverly Hills by Amrezy.
  5. What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?
IT Cosmetics, Dior, YSL, Glossier, KKW Beauty, Kylie Cosmetics, The Ordinary, Marc Jacobs, ColourPop, Chanel, Giorgio Armani, By Terry, Hourglass, Tom Ford, Charlotte Tilbury, Estee Lauder, Laura Mercier, Fresh, and Tarte.
  6. Favorite drugstore brand?
NYX, IMAN Cosmetics, Maybelline New York, Black Radiance Beauty, and Wet n Wild
  7. Do you wear fake eyelashes?
No, but I do have bunch of mink eyelashes. If you shop at dodolashes.com and use my code: beautyleebar, you will get some $$ off your purchase.
  8. Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?
I can’t leave the house without having my Clear Brow Gel and my Aveeno Sunscreen on.
  9. What is your most cherished beauty product?
I don’t just have 1, I’m sorry for being “That Girl”. L’OREAL PARIS HYDRAFRESH TONER, POND’S CLARANT B3 DARK SPOT CORRECTING CREAM, ANESE SO OVER IT PAPAYA EXFOLIATING MASK, DR.BRANDT LUMINIZER PRIMER, VASELINE, GLOWW GODDESS HIMALAYAN BODY SCRUB, CURLS, GOT2B ULTRA GLUED STYLING GEL, AS I AM, and LUSTI NATURALS ARGAN OIL are my most cherished beauty products at the moment.
  10. How often do you shop for makeup?
Whenever I go to the store or mall, which is probably every other day. I don’t wear makeup everyday but I do love to shop.
  11. Do you have a “beauty budget” or you spend freely?
I try to budget myself but I do end up spending freely.
  12. What type of product do you buy the most of?
I have a growing amount of skin care products (facial cleansers, face masks, cleansing oils, eye creams, etc.)
  13. Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?
    I’m trying to….
  14. Do you have a favorite place to shop for makeup?
    Ulta, Sephora, Target, and Walmart
  15. Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine?
I can’t get enough of skincare products. I think my addiction for skincare is stronger than makeup, hehe. I don’t mind trying something new because it might work better than something I am already using. Right now, I’m really liking Anese Slay Skin perfecting serum and the Swipe right Highlighting moisturizer. So far it works well for my skin! (WANT MORE INFO ON MY SKINCARE, READ HERE )
  16. Favorite bath and body brand?
I like Softsoap Coconut Scrub Exfoliating Body Wash and the Aveeno body wash. Target, Walmart and Publix are always having great sales towards body wash.
  17. Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains?
I can’t recall if I did or didn’t try products like that.
  18. Are you clumsy in putting makeup?
No, I know what I like and what looks good on me. If it is something new then of course it is going to take practice until I get it perfect.
  19. Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?
No, but I am thinking about going to Cosmetology School.
  20. What do you love about makeup?
Makeup can help to accentuate your beauty. From an artistic/creative view, I see it as a transformation because you can use makeup to change your facial structure (through contouring), hide imperfections/tiredness (with concealer), enhance your features, and even transform you to look like a completely different being. For example, the way drag queens makeup is done is fascinating.

Do you feel the same way about makeup? What do you love/hate the most about it?

HOLD MY DRINK, ANESE IS HERE…

me

By now, you know I am a crazy skin care junky. Taking care of my skin is my number one priority within my beauty routine. The less I need to cover up with makeup, the better. You’re probably catching on to the fact that I am also really into natural skincare. Right now my Holy Grail beauty routine is still a work in progress, but I was definitely thrilled with experimenting with Anese.co.

Okay, so here’s how this all started — I was scrolling through the gram looking for some goodies to try out and then it happened. Out the corner of my eye, I spotted Anese page and had to give it a scroll. I saw a product called, “Down With The Thickness ” Collagen Booty Mask and that was it, I had to check out their collection. I headed straight to their site to see if they were 100% cruelty-free. Not only did Anese check that box, but it also checked the natural-derived-ingredients box too. Um, sold.

I immediately started reading about each individual product and quickly filled my cart with what I wanted to try first. It was a difficult decision — between the raving reviews for every single product and the cute sexy clever names, I was as indecisive as a kitty trying to choose whether or not to come into the house. But I finally settled on a few to try out and even got my twin something.

Slay.

Skin perfecting serum.$48.00

SLAYThe Slay Revive and Glow White Truffle Perfecting Serum is magic in a bottle. Slay targets dry, dull looking skin that needs a healthy boost of moisture and vitamins. Formulated with DMAE, known to tighten and firm with noticeable effects within 20 minutes. Slay is your key to that youthful natural glow.

Beauty Lesson: Okay, in case you’ve never heard of this acronym, DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol) is a substance naturally produced in small amounts in the brain and also found in anchovies and sardines. DMAE supplements are promoted to boost brainpower, improve memory, and slow aging. DMAE helps to tighten skin and reduce sagging, improve firmness and elasticity, smooth lines and wrinkles and also brighten the skin. What’s more, it will enhance the effects of alternative antioxidants and is, therefore, best used in combination with Vitamins A, E, and C or alpha lipoic acid.

Basically, this shit is good for your skin. If used consistently, it can tighten and tone skin from all the ‘methyl donation’. The formula of this serum is a thick, milky texture, which absorbs into the skin nicely, with NO leftover flaky tacky sticky feeling.

Girl Power Mask Duo – Save $5!

Mask $39.00

I usually do a mask like 1-2 times a week, just as a quick pick-me-up for the skin. And although not always 100% necessary, it’s a nice gesture to do for your skin. So be nice to yours and treat it with this something special. This duo is a good place to start, because you get two-for-one, and they both have totally different skin-salving properties.
Pretty Sure I’m Gorgeous is a super hydration charcoal mask that feels more a like a cream on your skin, than drying. It also has the aforementioned DMAE qualities in it so it tones your skin as it moisturizes. A clarifying charcoal creme mask for when your skin and ego needs a boost. Perfect for acne prone and oily skin. Reduces the appearance of large pores and blemishes. Gentle and creamy, quenches skin. Activated charcoal clarifies and removes impurities from your skin, hyaluronic acid, organic olive and jojoba oils act as an ultra hydrator. Antioxidant organic rooibos, spirulina detoxes, DMAE tones. Apply a thick layer to cleansed skin, avoiding eye area. Rinse off after 10-15 minutes. Repeat twice a week. Tone using L’OREAL PARIS HYDRAFRESH TONER.

Unlike harsh exfoliants, So Over It does NOT remove dead skin by scrubbing it off. It gently exfoliates, increasing cell turnover and improves the overall texture of your face.
The result is brighter, cleaner and smoother skin. So Over It can work for all skin types but it is particularly amazing for dry skin.

For when you’re super over dry, flaky patches on your t-zone or you’ve been searching the deep depths of the internet for how to get that dewey fresh radiant look. Look no further, So Over It is going to be your fresh face champion. It is a gentle exfoliant that is made with papaya and pineapple enzymes.
Use 2-3 times per week, apply a thick layer to cleansed skin and scroll through BeautyLeeBar instagram for 15-20 minutes while the enzymes work its magic. Rinse with warm water and follow with the Slay serum.

So Over It, is great after a long day (or week) when you skin needs a little detoxification. This gently exfoliates and adds a smoothness to your complexion. You cans also buy both separately, but you get the better deal with the duo, just saying.

Beauty Tip: Not only does the Papaya Exfoliating Mask removes dead skin and give you that natural fresh radiant glow all year round, but it also helps dematerialize black spots.

Swipe right.

Highlighting moisturizer.$38.00

swipe

This illuminating balm is a lightweight cream with a subtle silver sheen and a light floral scent. An illuminating skin balm that leaves a pearlescent shine. Swipe right is made with natural oils that moisturize and nourish skin while leaving a trace of sparkle. Perfect for cheekbones, shoulders and legs. Swipe right offers more than your basic moisturizer.

Swipe right illuminating moisturizer is perfect for those who desires an illuminated effect for a day out at the beach or just general glamness. It Moisturizes, hydrates and softens skin while adding a light highlight.

Beauty Tip: For those who don’t wear makeup, use this product anywhere you would normally do with other highlighters. I usually put it on my nose, cheekbones, collarbones, arms and legs; if I’m showing some skin. My perfect skin secret for this summer is: Swipe Right (highlighter) + Hold my drink (Coconut body scrub). The shimmer is subtle and not overwhelming, so I feel comfortable wearing it regularly. It also is a great moisturizer!

Wake Me Up… Literally!

Sleep cycles, water, alarm clocks – how the heck do I jump instead of collapse out of bed, be a go-getter in the morning (more so than I already am, obviously) because right now I think I would prefer to lick 100 stamps with no water then leave my heavenly, scheduled sanctuary. With social media taking over and becoming the “new normal”, people think that everyone wakes up in the morning looking like a supermodel but I’m sure even the supermodels don’t wake up looking like a supermodel at first.

Getting out of Bed
sound image ugggghhh

“The act of slowly but successfully removing oneself from the comfort cloud in order to complete daily tasks”
Noun
A piece of furniture which potentially includes a mattress or some other form of comforter for (hopefully) peaceful rest.
Verb
Successfully achieving an experience of starting the day.

Successfully Getting Out Of Bed:

1. No Coffee– Just kidding! I only mean no coffee the afternoon/night before going to bed. Only because caffeine takes longer to pass through your body, so if you want deeper sleep, be able to fall asleep or, actually feel like you have slept then only having your Aphrodite hit in the mornings will provide a wake up cure on it’s own!

2. Cycling– There is some very complex information about REM Cycles, but basically to break it down for you – try to go to sleep at the same time each night. Going to bed earlier and waking up earlier also surprisingly helps with the morning blues. This will start providing your inner body conscious with a very pleasant routine allowing your body to naturally wake up/get out of bed. Voila!

3. Blind YourselfOpen. The. Blinds. Let the very nice natural sun/daylight into your room. Unless you are in Scandinavia land, sorry can’t do much about that! It gives you a very positive and enlightening start to the day.

4. Become A Watering Hole– As soon as you wake up in the morning, drink a cup of water. It helps to replenish all the water that has been lost during the night from sweating and exhaling. Keeping your body hydrated this early, actually makes your body move a lot easier too since it aids our bodies natural processes.

5. Be Strategic– Place your alarm clock/phone/gadget/boyfriend, whatever you use on the other side of the room. Need I say more.
If you open your eyes 0.01ms faster than usual and are feeling particularly ambitious…..
Pull out your crouching tiger, hidden hippo moves. Morning stretching not only helps energize you for the start of the day, it can provide a relaxed and focused mindset. Some of the main stretches/yoga poses which work best is the spinal stretch, cat tilt and the good old hands to toes.
Also, Einstein believed that imagination is more powerful than knowledge and our imaginations are ready to explode in the morning. So if you like reading your daily newspaper or Twitter feed, try to read something uplifting. It’s best to keep the negativity at bay and let our imagination run wild on paper to kick-start your cognitive functions.

Go get em’ tiger !

Do you wake up early to reach your goals? If so, do you have any additional tips for waking up early?

Natural Looking Makeup: Learn the Tips For Getting the Look Just Right

natural

Finding the right makeup to wear when you’re going for a natural look can be more complex than you think. You don’t want anything too cakey, too bright, or too dark. And we all know, that looking natural does indeed require SOME makeup application – and some skill, too. The best tip that I have for you is to wear colors close to your natural skin tone, and ones that just enhance and perfect your skin. For your best natural look, follow the tips and tricks below, followed by some of my favorite beauty products to use to get that natural looking glow.

1. Moisturize. Creating the perfect base for your makeup is very important. Moisturizing boosts hydration in your skin, prevents flaking and dullness, and creates a protective layer of moisture that lasts all day. Plus, proper application of a face cream will help anti-aging ingredients work better – increasing the odds that they’ll work.

Beauty Tip:

  • I use Shea Moisture Head-To-Toe Nourishing Hydration 100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
  • Sometimes, I feel like I have a dry skin so I have been using POND’S Dry Skin Cream. It deeply hydrates for smooth, soft, radiant skin. *Don’t worry, it won’t clog pores. Pond’s Dry Skin Cream is hypoallergenic and is suitable for sensitive skin. It has been Dermatologist tested for the ones that are concerned.
  • Since I have discovered a ULTA Beauty close by me, I have been going insane. A month ago, I purchased Luminizer Primer Base Lumiere by Dr. Brandt. You can either wear it under your makeup or by itself. If you want to control those pores of yours then Dr. Brandt is the way to go plus it adds a natural glow to your beautiful face.
  • Also, I use Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist. Here is the bonus: It formulates with certified organic ingredients. Tones with this refreshing blend of rosehip, ylang ylang, resveratrol-rich grapeseed oil and antioxidant-rich organic botanical juices for a fresh, radiant complexion.

2. Conceal. Hide away any dark circles, fine lines or blemishes with a concealer. This will get rid of any imperfections and leave your skin looking flawless

Beauty Tip: My go-to concealer is NARS honestly. I have many concealers by different brands but I always end up using NARS.

But sometimes I end up using PUR Bare It All foundation by itself without a concealer because it is a high performance, 12-hour, demi-matte foundation that helps to cover imperfections and instantly perfect the skin while helping to correct the problem areas. Designed for face and body and formulated with PUR’s proprietary Energy Complex and Ceretin Complex, this formula renews the look of your skin and goes the distance.

3. Powder or light foundation. I recommend to use a powder or an airy liquid foundation. The illusion that we’re going for is natural makeup, so using a thick cakey makeup doesn’t fit the bill. Be sure to apply evenly with a brush or sponge for an even, non-streaky, look and your face will appear naturally perfect.

Beauty Tip: For powder, I either use BLACK RADIANCE, IMAN, or Bare Minerals Matte. But remember, if you are using a matte foundation then you don’t want to use a matte powder because you might end up looking cakey.

I also love, I mean I LOVE IMAN Second To None Cream Powder Foundation . It is not heavy on the face and surprisingly, it is full coverage. When wanting to look natural but still be flawless, IMAN Second To None Cream Powder Foundation is the IT FACTOR!

If you still have the desire to bake then lets go bake! I tried the Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Setting Powder and loved it. Now I can’t get enough. I also use the Black Radiance Soft Focus Finishing Powder to bake and the IMAN Second To None Semi-Loose Powder .

* I don’t use all these powders at once, I use 1 or the other depending on what makeup look I’m going for or usually what my hand grabs first. These are the products that I have used or is still using.

4. Subtle blush. Creme blushes work well because you can rub them in as much as you like for a dramatic or subtle look. Depending on your skin color, blush colors will vary – but peaches tend to look great on everyone. Blend in to your natural cheekbone line where pink undertones normally show.

Beauty Tip: I don’t normally wear blush but when I do, I go for Too Faced Blush.

5. Neutral shadows. Sweep a neutral color over your lids for a muted but beautiful eye. Choose a color that is just a shade or two darker than your skin tone, anything too dark will create a more dramatic eye and won’t look natural.

Beauty Tip: You don’t have to wear eyeshadows, it is totally up to you. Try the L’Oréal L.A Palette Nude or The Nudes Maybelline New York

6. Nude lip. When choosing a lip color, go for the light pinks, peaches and sand colors. You could also apply a little gloss for an even simpler lip.

Try Burt’s Bees for the lip balm, Lucie + Pompette lipglosses, ColorKillMakeup, NYX, Fenty Beauty, LipLand by Amrezy, fullips, NARS, Sonia Kashuk lipliners, or Maybelline lipliners.

7. Little mascara (if any). A thin layer of mascara is all you need for a natural look. You still want your eyes to stand out, so if you have light lashes, adding a layer of mascara may be a good idea. If you naturally have dark, full lashes you may skip out on the mascara.

My Favorite mascara is Benefit Roller Lash and my two favorite eyelash primers so far are L’OREAL Voluminous Primer or the Elf Cosmetic Primer. *Benefit they’re Real mascara is a good one as well and Maybelline has good mascarars as well, it is so hard to choose.

8. No liner. While eyeliner is great for a dramatic eye, it doesn’t fit with the natural makeup look. Don’t apply any eyeliner on the top or bottom. Not only will your face look naturally stunning but you’ll love how easy taking off your makeup is!
