Concealer lips were a statement in the 2000s, and we thought we had left them behind forever, but Sofia Richie put them back on the map.

The good news is that they are not the almost white and dimensionless lips of your adolescence, but a technique with which we can make them look voluminous and very sophisticated. Here’s how to achieve the look.

What do concealer lips look like?

On TikTok, many memes remind us of what concealer lips were like 20 years ago: they consisted of putting concealer instead of lipstick, which resulted in cakey lips, without dimensions that now look zero cool. However, if you learn how to use your concealer on your lips, they can look less like a meme and more like the iconic Sofia Richie.

1. Preparation

We recommend starting with well-moisturized lips. Apply a lip balm or lip oil for softer and free-of-dry lips.

2. Line the lips

Lip liner is optional, but it can help give lips a more defined and voluminous look. Use a lipstick in a nude shade or one that is slightly darker than your natural lip color. Line the contour of your lips, following their natural shape.

3. Apply nude lipstick

Finally, apply a light layer of concealer to the center of your lips and blend with your fingers, both top and bottom, to give it an ombré effect and make it look like you’ve just put on fillers.

But it doesn’t just stay in clothes, the balletcore vibe also goes into the beauty look, and Hailey Bieber shows us how in her TikTok tutorial.

It’s all about showcasing delicacy and grace with soft, subtle hues, such as soft pinks and hints of subtle sparkle. Think about highlighting your cheekbones with a light, natural blush, and highlighting your eyes with soft, blended shadows. The focus is on bringing a natural beauty with a touch of ballet charm.

We recommend using varied colors when faux freckling. Naturally occurring freckles come in an array of colors, so you need to mimic that when you’re creating freckles on your face, or you’ll end up looking like a cartoon doll.

It’s also important to place freckles at random and to make sure you’re not dragging the pencil. It’s a staccato motion, kind of like throwing a dart and making sure you’re layering the freckles. They should be different intensities and very random — anything that looks too uniform will give away that you’ve drawn the freckles on the face.
