On days when you want to opt for foundation-like coverage that takes less effort,Β concealerΒ is the way to go. Medium-to-full coverageΒ formulas can easily blend into the skin for a flawless and crease-free finish. Ahead, we rounded up the veryΒ best concealer formulasΒ that can take the place of foundation.
This medium-coverage concealer formulated with tremella mushroom, cica and green tea is hydrating and leaves behind a dewy finish. It can be blended out all over the face for a sheer tint or layered on targeted areas for a velvety smooth coverage.
For a heavy-duty formula that can easily cover up everything from acne-scars to active breakouts, opt for this formula from Dermablend. It lasts for up to 24 hours and will leave the skin looking flawless.
A lightweight yet full-coverage option, this Teint Idole formula will instantly become your favorite. Itβs very breathable, feels comfortable on the skin and wonβt cake β no matter how long you keep it on for.
Want an even-toned complexion sans the foundation? Apply this formula from Urban Decay on problematic areas and watch them disappear before your eyes. Itβs full coverage, easily blendable and wonβt crease or crack throughout the day.
Thereβs a reason why this concealer is a cult-favorite. Itβs longwearing, super creamy and blends flawlessly into a variety of skin tones with little finesse. No matching foundation needed!
There are a lot of useful TikTok beauty trends out there β from powder foundation tricks to self-tanning tips. Some, however, raise our collective (and well-groomed) eyebrows, like a certain blush hack that involves applying blush all over the face and layering foundation on top for a dewy, radiant, and flushed finish. To get to the bottom of whether this blush trick works, we tapped makeup artist Kasey Spickard for his thoughts.
βHereβs the thing, it does work,β says Spickard βShould you do it? No.β Although itβs an eye-catching and entertaining video, he doesnβt recommend incorporating it into your everyday makeup routine. βThis trend is using the concept of adding deep contours and bright highlights under the makeup for definition, however, youβre going to end up going through a lot more productive than if you did a standard base and buffed in cream blush later,β he explains.
Spickard also notes that some formulas are simply not meant to be applied all over the face. βI see folks packing liquid lipsticks all over their face and layering foundation on top, which is a total recipe for a breakout,β he says. βThese products are not designed to be used that way, and can risk causing skin irritation and breakouts.βΒ
The Right Way to Apply Cream Blush for a Flushed Finish
Spickard much prefers to keep it simple when applying cream blush β and guess what? The same, flushed, and radiant finish is possible his way, too. βMy favorite method is to start by warming up the cream blush on the back of my hand and using my middle and ring fingers to buff it out onto the cheeks, cheekbones, temples, and nose bridge,β he says. We love the NYX Professional Makeup Bare With Me Luminous Cheek Serum for this. Complete the look by setting the cream formula with a powder blush using a fluffy brush (his favorite is the IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Flat Top Buffing Foundation Brush).
Getting makeup on your clean white t-shirt orΒ face maskΒ is frustrating. Not only will it add to your laundry load, but it also leaves you with streaky or patchy looking makeup. And while it might seem easier to skip foundation and face makeup and stick to justΒ eye makeupΒ instead, there are tricks to preventing makeup transfer. Here, weβre sharing some of the best tips toΒ keep makeup in place.
To ensure maximum protection, make sure youβre opting for a waterproof formula. It may seem straightforward, but trust us when we say that these formulas are long-lasting and stay in place. We recommend theΒ SELENA GOMEZβS RARE BEAUTYΒ Concealer.
Set Everything
You probably know that setting your makeup is necessary for long-lasting results, but as vlogger Manny MUA shows in this video, thereβs a technique to achieving a truly transfer-proof finish. First, he applies his moisturizer and then sets it with a translucent powder and theΒ Urban Decay All Nighter Spray. Then, he primes his face with a tacky primer to help keep the foundation in place. After he applies his foundation and concealer, he sets his face again with a translucent powder, except this time he lets the products sit on his face for about five minutes. Once the five minutes are up, he sets his face again using a spray before finishing the rest of his face with bronzer, highlighter and blush. Finally, he goes in with one last round of translucent powder all over his face.

Use Your Hair as a ShieldΒ
InΒ this video, fashion bloggerΒ Naomi BoyerΒ shows us how to safely put on a clean shirt after applying makeup. The trick is to comb your hair in front of your face. Then, while looking down, pull the opening of the shirt as far apart as you can and quickly pull it over your head.Β
Using a very light touch and a soft facial tissue, use vlogger Crystalβs press and roll method to absorb excess makeup that could potentially get onto your clothing or mask.

Be Gentle with Your Mask
After completing and setting a full face using long-lasting formulas, Marie Jay says that the key to avoiding transfer onto a protective face mask is to apply the mask strategically. Instead of hooking the mask on one ear and sliding it across her face to the hook the other ear, which can cause transfer, she opens the mask, gently holds it in the center of her face without applying too much pressure and then hooks each ear in place. Itβs a small step, but itβs one more thing that can help to ensure your makeup stays in place.

Bronzer can give your complexion warmth and a sculpted appearance. Apply too much or apply it incorrectly, however, and it can look unnatural and severe. βDepending on your face shape, strategicΒ placement of bronzerΒ is key toΒ creating the perfect glowΒ and enhancing your complexion,β says makeup artistΒ Rachel Halsey. βThe basic rule I follow whenΒ applying bronzerΒ is to focus on the areas of the face that the sun would naturally touch: the forehead, bridge of the nose and cheekbones,β says Halsey.Β
Because the right placement can differ by face shape, we asked Halsey to share the best way to apply bronzer, whether your face is oval, round, heart or square. Read on for her tips.Β

Where to Apply Bronzer on Oval Face Shapes
With a light hand, apply your bronzer to the top of the forehead along the hairline, as well as on the cheeks. For a more contoured look, apply it in the hollows of cheeks. You can also lightly dust it along the bridge of the nose.
Where to Apply Bronzer on Heart Face Shapes
Similar to that of an oval face shape, bronzer application should hit the top of the forehead and cheeks. For heart face shapes, however, youβll want to use more product along the hairline and temple area. Finally, add a touch of bronzer on the bottom of the chin β you want to accentuate your natural angles.
Where to Apply Bronzer on Round Face Shapes
To sculpt a round face, apply the bronzer along the cheekbones in a downward motion toward the jaw so it creates a soft shadow. It might be best to use a powder formula like the FENTY BEAUTY SUN STALK’R INSTANT WARMTH BRONZERΒ for this. Blend well for a natural finish.Β
Where to Apply Bronzer on Square Face Shapes
If you have a square face shape, sweep your bronzer in a curved line along the middle of the forehead and along the middle of the cheeks (right between the hollows and the top of the cheekbones) to help soften the corners of your face.Β
