Curious about the cute lil’ ice facial tool that popped up on both Kourt and Kendall’s IGS recently? We’ve got the intel (because of course we had to get our hands on one as well!).
Facial icing — and the wider concept of cryotherapy — have boomed in popularity this year. Cheap and easy, the cold temperatures work to constrict blood flow and define facial features, not to mention shake off signs of fatigue.

First off, we are big fans of ice facials—they can help reduce puffiness, brighten our complexion, stimulate blood circulation, and lift skin. We’re into this type of tool because it is reusable, refillable, and foolproof to use. Kendall shared in her post that she loves using hers for her morning ice facials, but it can be used any time of day.
The Contour Cube is essentially just a tool that can be used like an ice block container but is designed in a way so that it works with the contours of the face. You simply fill it with water (or coconut water, if you’re feeling boujee) and move it along the face to refresh, tighten, and tone. It’s a viral TikTok product (!) that explains how it might have found its way into Jenner’s skincare routine.

To prep, it, simply fill it with filtered water and pop it in the freezer until it’s frozen solid. Take the top off and bada bing bada boom, it’s ready to glide across your face. The bottom cover stays on, acting as a grip so that the ice doesn’t slide out of your hands while you’re using it. When you’re done, put the top back on and stick it back in the freezer.
How to use the Contour Cube
After cleansing your face, run your Contour Cube under water to defrost slightly
Apply to your face in upward circular motions moving the ice continuously in 30-second intervals for up to 1 to 2 minutes on each side of your face
For optimal results, follow your usual moisturizing routine
Avoid contact with eyes and if you have sensitive skin, discontinue use if signs of irritation appear
But you’re not limited to just using water with this nifty tool, as you can see from Kourt’s post. Rose water, green tea, coconut milk, aloe vera, lemon water, and cucumber water can also be used instead of plain water.
Kourt added cucumber slices for extra de-puffing action. Some other ideas: green tea for anti-inflammatory benefits, coconut milk for hydration, or rosewater for a glow.

So How The Fuck Do you Make Milk Ice Cubes?
Well, EASY.
Take a big bowl & mix a cup of cow’s milk and a cup of coconut milk. Milk has lactic acid that removes dead skin cells and provides a natural glow to the skin. Mix it well then pour it into a cute ice cube tray & freeze it overnight. So basically, it’s milk ice cubes.
In the morning, wake up & enjoy a refreshing icy situation. We feel a healthy glow. You guys know we love ice on my face so it’s no surprise we’ve done this a million times.
You can also do this any time before bed. Cleanse, applying an ice cube on your face in a circular motion until it’s used up, rinse it off with water & your skin is tight & ready to go. We are a big fan of heating up to cool down, so we’ll use the Dr. Dennis Gross steamer and then cool our skin down with a milk ice cube.

If a milk cube isn’t for you, you can use aloe vera or green tea – or just use a plain ice cube. Rub an ice cube on your skin. Ice cube rapidly constricts blood vessels, so you’ll still get tons of pore shrinking & glowing skin benefits. It’s the key to product absorption & your makeup will loook flawless if you give yourself a little ice cube facial before you apply foundation.
And of course, if you love tools, you can never go wrong with an ice roller. We hope this skincare post brings you value & you try these milk ice cubes on your face.
Even the most seasoned skincare enthusiasts might have some missteps in their daily routine — like not knowing what order to apply different products in or mixing ingredients that don’t play well together by accident. Another one of these skincare mishaps is a habit we’re all likely doing: drying our face before applying products. And as it turns out, skincare is best applied to wet or damp skin. We spoke with board-certified dermatologist Dr. Michelle Farber of Schweiger Dermatology about why this is the case, what the benefits are, and how to know if it might be a vital step for you.

Why Should You Apply Skincare Products to Damp Skin?
“The benefit is allowing your skin to better absorb the main ingredients in your products,” says Dr. Farber. When your skin is wet and permeable, it allows most products to penetrate through more easily. That being said, with damp skincare application comes responsibility, she adds, like “choosing the right products for your skin, making sure you don’t overdo it with too many products and adding appropriate moisturizers to help keep your regimen balanced.”
What Types of Skin-Care Products Should You Apply to Wet Skin?
By far the best product to apply on wet skin is a moisturizer, says Dr. Farber. “Applying a moisturizer right after the shower is a great way to keep your skin hydrated.” If you need a recommendation, the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is a rich face and body moisturizer that we love for it’s a non-greasy formula and ability to deeply hydrate the skin.
When it comes to more potent skincare products like serums, however, you want to be careful about how much you’re applying. Because your skin is absorbing more product while it’s wet, it can often increase irritation. As far as skincare masks go, you can go ahead and apply them on freshly washed skin, but products like sunscreen should be applied (and re-applied!) onto dry skin.

How Often Should I Apply Skin Care to Damp Skin?
Dr. Farber advises being mindful of how your skin reacts to certain products when increasing absorption because you may experience irritation. “Don’t start applying a new product every day, especially on wet skin as it’ll be more potent, but integrate slowly, a few days a week and get your skin adjusted,” she says. Of course, if you’re unsure about what products are going to be safe for your skin, consult your dermatologist.

Myth 1: Blackheads are due to your pores being clogged with dirt. Truth: Blackheads are caused by pores being filled with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. They appear black if they are exposed to air and oxidize in the process.
Myth 2: Tanning clears acne. Truth: Although tanning helps hide the appearance of acne, it can make your condition worse in the long run. The UV rays are damaging to your skin and can make scarring appear worse due to lingering hyperpigmentation. They can also increase your risk of skin cancer.
Myth 3: Acne only affects teenagers. Truth: Acne can occur in adulthood, affecting up to 15% of women.
Myth 4: Acne just affects the skin. Truth: Although primarily a skin disorder, acne can take a big toll on one’s mental health. Studies have linked acne to depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem.

Myth 5: Acne clears faster with a facial scrub. Truth: Scrubbing acne can actually move the bacteria around and cause more breakouts, worsen inflammation, and potentially lead to scarring.
Myth 6: Makeup always worsens acne. Truth: Yes, some makeup can clog your pores, but not all. Certain makeup can help clear your skin, like powder-based mineral foundations with ingredients like zinc oxide and silica, which can absorb the oils clogging your pores. Lee likes this foundation, which works double time by concealing and healing blemishes.
Myth 7: The most expensive products work the best. Truth: Many individuals tend to think that the most expensive products are the most effective at treating acne. Although more expensive products often contain more natural and higher-quality ingredients, these components are not necessarily the best treatment for each person’s skin. Here are our picks for skincare products under $20.
Myth 8: Acne on all areas of the face is caused by the same factors. Truth: Acne can appear and feel differently depending on what area of your face it is occurring. Acne often arises on your forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin, and treatments differ depending on where the outbreak is. Recognizing where the infection is occurring is an essential step to determine how to treat it. Our acne mapping guide can help you get to the root of what’s causing your acne.
Myth 9: Washing your face as much as possible is the best way to get rid of acne. Truth: It’s common for people who begin to feel a breakout coming to try to vigorously wash their face in order to halt its growth. However, increasing the amount you wash your face doesn’t necessarily cure acne and can make it even worse (see myth 5). Excessive washing can strip your skin’s natural oils and lead to dryness or increased sensitivity. Depending on skin type and products used, people should usually wash their face twice a day to get rid of bacteria accumulated throughout the day as well as prevent pimples. Here is our guide on HOW TO PROPERLY INTRODUCE NEW SKINCARE INGREDIENTS.
Myth 10: Creams, washes, patches, and spot treatments are the only way to prevent and heal acne. Truth: Light therapy is a great way to get your breakouts under control. If you haven’t tried the DMH Aesthetics LED Light Shield Mask yet, let today be the day you add it to your skincare routine. It has three light settings, but the blue light is best for acne-prone skin and existing, active breakouts because it targets the sebaceous oil glands and destroys acne-causing bacteria. It can also help decrease scarring from breakouts you’ve picked.

When it comes to skin goals, one keyword that’s often overlooked is hydration. We’re often so busy trying to get rid of fine lines, minimize our pores, and get rid of hormonal pimples, that sometimes keeping our skin hydrated gets left behind. But the truth is, keeping your skin hydrated is one of the best things…
