5 Summer Beauty Hacks You Need to Know Now

Beauty hacks are probably some of my favorite kind β€” because who doesn’t love a get-gorgeous pro tip and a time-saving, life-made-easier trick rolled into one? Just in time for summer, I put together some of my favorites to get you going and glowing fast.

5. Use Blotting Paper
Keep blotting paper handy for the times when your face is threatening to become an oily mess. Use this to soak up the extra oil by gently dabbing the paper on your face, and follow up with compact powder. Voila! Your face is looking fabulous again.

4. Spray On Facial Mist
When it feels like your face is melting, and the sun is being rather harsh, a facial mist could save the day. Spray generously for some instant freshness!

3. Prevent Those Sunglass Marks
We love our sunnies, but they are notorious for leaving unflattering marks around the nose. Fret not; apply compact powder on the nose pads of the sunglasses, and a little loose powder on the nose… There! An instant fix. Go on, try it. You can thank me later.

2. Make Your Perfume Last Longer
If 10 minutes in the sun has your deodorant giving up, the struggle to smell good gets real. Take some Vaseline, and apply it on your pulse points. Now, spray perfume on these areas to smell good all day.

I don’t know about you but in the summer months my hair could seriously do with a daily shampoo what with the grease and the sweat…I know, nice. But if you don’t want to dry your hair out by over-washing, but also hate the feel of regular dry shampoo in your hair, this foam will become your new BFF.Β

Rather than filling your hair with powder to soak up excess oil, this foam absorbs oil, product build up and other impurities, leaving behind zero residue. Massage it into your roots just like you would a hair mousse and it will leave you with squeaky clean, dry hair.

7 Beauty Basics That Won’t Break the Bank

Want budget-friendly buys that help you look (and feel) like a million bucks? Scope my top picks for under $50, plus my favorite tips and tricks for each.Β

1. Makeup remover wipes. For a fast face mask, press a wipe onto skin and wear for 3 to 5 minutes. This refreshes and rehydrates skin plus feels especially luxe after a long day at the beach.

2. Coffee grounds. Mix a half-cup of coffee grounds with olive oil to make a natural exfoliating scrub. Rub onto arms and legs in a circular motion before showering, then rinse off for smooth skin.

3. Coconut oil. Deep-condition dry ends with an overnight hair mask. Apply 3 to 5 tablespoons, depending on the length of your hair, and wrap up in a t-shirt while you sleep.

4. Apple cider vinegar. Use apple cider vinegar as a face toner to help support a clear complexion. Simply dilute with 2 parts water and dab onto skin with a cotton ball.

5. Lemon. Slice a lemon in half and β€œjuice it” on your elbow to exfoliate and slough off dead skin cells.

6. Brown sugar. For a smoother smooch, make a simple lip scrub with equal parts brown sugar and coconut oil. Exfoliating your lips also creates a smoother base for lipstick to glide onto.

7. Blotting sheets. Put your best (shine-free) face forward by using blotting sheets wherever you have excess oil. In a pinch, use on your part and along your hairline as a dry shampoo stand-in to keep hair from looking greasy.

Your Beauty Sleep Checklist

1. Stop the party early. All the snacks and sips that give you energy β€” think sugar, alcohol and caffeine β€” can keep you up for several hours past your bedtime. Don’t enjoy them late in the day or you risk pulling an all-nighter (and that’s no good for skin).

2. Stay consistent. Keeping the same hours you go to bed and wake up β€” yes, even on weekends β€” is key to sleep health.

3. Do some pre-game. Help yourself sleep better by winding yourself down with relaxing activities, like a warm bath, soothing music or a good, old-fashioned book.

4. Go dark. No blackout shades? No worries. A silky sleep mask keeps streets lights, LEDs and more from interrupting your snooze.

5. Nix the tech. TVs, computers, phones and other gadgets that keep you current can also keep you awake. Power down an hour or so before bed so you sleep better.

6. Soothe dry lips. I love applying a nice layer of BURT’S BEES Moisturizing Lip Balm before bed to nourish my pout while asleep.

7. De-puff before you turn down. Help prevent tired-looking eyes from seeing the light of day with The Depuffed Eye Gel. It’s filled with botanicals that decongest puffiness and help you look younger, refreshed and radiant.

8. Spritz on a wake-up call. The instant pick-me-up (even before coffee)? Elevated Hydration Replenishing Mist. It’s hydrating, refreshing and enhanced with botanicals that help wake up the senses.

9. Rise and shine. After I moisturize, I love a little hydrating primer with mica, peony root and hyaluronic acid for plumper-looking skin and a gorgeous glow.

Philosophy- Purity Made Simple Moisturizer Review

purity-made-simple

I’ve been using Philosophy Purity Made Simple Ultra-Light Moisturizer for couple of weeks now so I wanted to share my initial thought on the product specially since I been getting a lot of compliments on my skin.

wsiPurity Made Simple Ultra-Light Moisturizer is a nourishing formula that is packed with good-for-you ingredients that deliver 24 hour hydration. You will automatically see a radiant, dewy complexion with less-visible pores.

This new moisturizer feels lightweight as it pumps out of the bottle, yet it has enough weight as it smooths onto skin as to not immediately disappear into the skin as it absorbs. It does absorb pretty quickly, though it does leave skin feeling hydrated and gives my skin a dewy finish.

The formula of Purity Made Simple Moisturizer is definitely not simple and that is a good thing. It is made with philosophy’s exclusive blend of sustainable meadowfoam seed oil, cold-pressed chia seed oil, green tea antioxidant complex, a blend of vitamins C and E and moisture-magnet ingredients glycerin and sodium hyaluronateto that protects skin while wearing.

As I said, my skin definitely feels hydrated as soon as I smooth it on. I do have dry skin, so for me, this product is perfect for my skin. It does NOT leave my skin greasy or shiny, just hydrated and fresh.

After just one use of this moisturizer, your skin feels refreshed and bouncy to the touch, like a reset for your skin. It preps your skin for smooth makeup application. Purity Made Simple Ultra-Light Moisturizer will leave your beautiful skin radiant, dewy, and smooth with less-visible pores, leaving it looking pure and restored to its ideal state. Skin feels ultra-moisturized all day without feeling greasy and like a daily vitamin, leaves it looking healthy and strong.

The amazing part is that this feather light moisturizer is perfect for all skin types. It does NOT cause breakouts and does NOT clog pores.

I’ve been using this moisturizer every day and I have really seen a difference in my skin. My skin is soft, hydrated and my pores are a lot less visible. I also see a difference in the colour texture of my skin, it is more uniform and balanced looking. Last but not least I also feel as though my skin is less dry and dull looking since using these products, which makes me a happy gyal. Even when I’m not wearing makeup, I still use it, it is now part of my every day skin care routine.

I am really impressed by the results the philosophy gives and how affordable the products are. It’s a step up from buying a moisturizer at the drugstore, but it doesn’t break the bank. I love to let you all know when you can get the most for your money and I can really tell you that this product delivers great results.

Purity Made Simple Ultra-Light Moisturizer is available at Sephora and Ulta Beauty right now. It sells $25 for the 4.7oz and $5 for the 0.5oz on the www.philosophy.com website. Check them out for more info and deals !
