The Celebrity DIY Facial That Will Cost You Less Than $1

The facial in question is an ice bath  yes, we’re serious! We’ve got to admit we were a little shocked when we heard just how many celebs do this before a big event. But seeing as it’s definitely the cheapest of all the celebrity facial trends, we thought we should look into it. And let us tell you the benefits are MAJOR. Just take a look at the Victoria’s Secret Angels to see the results, because word on the street is they all gave themselves an ice bath before the big show. This slightly crazy facial gives your skin an instant glow, shrinks the size of your pores, and tones your skin. Honestly, the next time you’re getting ready for an event and you want to look snatched AF, do this before you start your skin and beauty prep.

So how exactly does it work?

All you have to do is fill a large bowl with ice and then add enough water so that all of the cubes are submerged. Then scoop the water into your hands and splash it onto your face for 30 seconds. We swear this feels harsher on your hands than it does on your face  it’s actually SO refreshing. The cool water constricts the skin’s circulation by reducing the natural heat in the skin, which instantly tightens your pores, reduces any puffiness, and revitalizes your skin.  It’ll also appear to smooth fine lines and wrinkles while making your skin look more firm. But we wouldn’t recommend giving yourself an ice bath every day (tempting, we know!), as it’s such a powerful treatment it could actually damage the capillaries if it’s done too frequently. We’d suggest it just for special occasions and events, or if you’re doing a runway show!

Ice Cube DIY

For those of you not quite brave enough to give yourself an ice facial just yet, then this ice cube DIY is an ideal alternative. All you have to do whisk together 3 tablespoons of honey and 3 tablespoons of olive oil, and then pour the mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze overnight. In the morning, massage the ice cubes onto your face until they dissolve and then wash your face with cool water  this will give intense hydration, toning, and nourishment.

Another super easy ice cube DIY is to simply add a drop of your favorite essential oil into each ice cube before you freeze it. You can then use these ice cubes individually or as part of your larger ice bath facial.

5 Hacks for Scoring the Best Beauty Products at Walmart

Breeze in and out with your best haul ever.

Walmart has undergone some pretty major upgrades recently—think: locally grown produce, helpful customer hosts, free two-day shipping (more on that below), and seamless in-store pick-up, just to name a few.

And when it comes to beauty, it can truly be your one-stop shop. The retailer isn’t just for steals—though there are tons of them—they also have some pretty cool prestige beauty brands (we’re talking Nars, Guerlain, Marc Jacobs fragrance…), plus on-trend, beauty-editor approved K-beauty products from Innisfree, Sulwhasoo, Tony Moly, Cosrx, and more. If you know how to navigate these (often huge) stores, you can score serious deals, find products you’d never expect, and get beauty advice you can’t find anywhere else.

Wanna shop like a pro during your next visit? Here are five hacks to incorporate into your browsing routine ASAP.

1. Download the App

You need the Walmart app. It has Walmart Pay (a PIN-code linked to your credit, debit, or gift card), which easily allows you to reorder staples like soap, toothpaste, and even mascara. It also allows you to coordinate in-store pick-ups, create lists of your essentials, and so much more.

2. Go for the in-House Brand

Stock up on staples and save some extra cash by trying out Walmart’s own Equate Beauty line. The chicly packaged products save you money but don’t skimp on quality. You see, the best thing about “generic” beauty brands like this is that they can replicate some of your favorite products…often for half the cost. You can shop everything from body lotion to oil-free makeup remover, priced mostly under $10.

3. Shop Online and Skip the Line

Consider the app and website your personal shopping concierge. Want what you ordered right now? No problem. (Hey, beauty emergencies happen!) Just place your order on the app and you’ll get a message as soon as it’s ready for pick-up at a location near you. Then, simply dash in, grab your loot, and go.

Can you wait a few days? If you order over $35 worth of merchandise, you’ll get free two-day shipping on an insane amount of eligible items.

4. Go Super Early

Walmart traditionally restocks their shelves overnight, which means the early bird truly does get the worm. Head in any time before 9am for the best finds, but note: Pro shoppers recommend showing up as early as 5am if you’re about that life! Check your local stores hours online, but many locations are open 24/7.

5. Read Your “Weekly Ad” Online

It’s like a newsletter-meets-coupon-circular. Search by your zip code to find your nearest location to get started. Don’t sleep on their “Ideas” section, which contains a mix of lifestyle and wellness content, makeup tips, and gift guides.

The Ultimate Hack for Super Soft Lips

Summer is finally here, and I’m super excited! It shouldn’t have to cost thousands of dollars to achieve that beautiful supple, glowy and hydrated look… But fortunately, there are SO many ways you can cheat it!

One of the first places dehydration shows is on your lips, and not only is chapped and cracking lips uncomfortable, but it’s also not very attractive… and there’s no reason you shouldn’t look your best. Here’s what I like to do to keep my lips soft and hydrated:

DIY Honey Mask:

One of my favorite ways to keep my lips soft and supple during summer is a honey mask. It’s super easy, just slather your lips in honey every night before you go to bed, and just leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes before removing it. Honestly, this works wonders!

Lanolin Products:

During the day, a good lip balm is an essential. I’ve always found products with Lanolin in to have THE most amazing moisturizing properties, and it’s actually because it’s a completely natural ingredient that comes from sheep’s fleeces. My favorite pure lanolin lip balms to date have to be Lanolips (which literally lasts allll day) and Dr. Lipp. Carmex is also amazing and contains lanolin, beeswax, shea butter, Menthol, and Aloe, which all work together to really soothe your lips.

DIY Balm

Take your lanolin lip balm (or another lip balm) and whip it up in a mini container with a couple of drops of rose oil. This is totally optional, but rose oil has the most amazing hydrating effects.

Be sure to drink as much water as you can in the evenings so your body can catch up on the hydration it needs.

Tone It Up: DIY Avocado Hair and Face Mask

Love reading articles from, Tone It Up! We’ll be sharing Tone It Up’s best fitness and healthy living tips. In today’s, Serena and Katrina will be showing you how to add shine to your hair and a glow to your skin with two of their favorite DIY mask recipes:

Hi everyone, it’s Katrina and Serena here from Tone It Up! Today we’re excited to be telling you about two DIY masks you can make for your hair and face. They are both so easy to make and for when you are in the mood for a relaxing evening at home. Plus, they will freshen up your pretty locks and clear your beautiful skin! The key ingredients in both of these masks are avocado and apple cider vinegar, both of which will make your hair shiny and soft and add a glow to your skin.

Here’s how to make them (be sure to pin the image below to remember it for later!)…

To recap, here’s how to make these masks:

Avocado Hair Mask

You will need:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 tsp olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Blend all the ingredients together and massage into your hair from roots to ends, covering thoroughly.
  2. Let sit for 30 minutes.
  3. Shampoo well, then rinse with apple cider vinegar.

Avocado Face Mask

You will need:

  • ½ ripe avocado
  • 1 tbsp of honey
  • 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar

Instructions:

  1. Blend the ingredients together or mash in a bowl.
  2. Apply to your face and leave on for 15 minutes. Focus on your breathing and relax while letting it set.
  3. Rinse off with cool water and a damp cloth.

We love the avocado in these masks because it helps to moisturize and rejuvenate your hair and skin. The healthy fats act as an all-natural and super hydrating moisturizer. And let’s not forget about the apple cider vinegar (one of our favorite elixirs). You might remember us talking about the benefits of apple cider vinegar here on BeautyLeeBar.com couple weeks ago. Not only is it good for your body, it’s great for your hair. It closes the cuticles, allowing your locks to lay flat for shinier hair that’s easy to style. It also acts as an astringent that clears your skin as well.

Now that you’ve read a bit about two of our favorite masks, we want to know…

Will you give our DIY avocado hair and face masks a try?
