Ahhh, winter is about to arrive, and that only means one thing: hot chocolate recipes and movies.

When the holiday season starts, we automatically think about the smell of cinnamon, gingerbread cookies, peppermint, and good ole hot chocolate. If you are not a fan of coffee and this is your drink of choice during these dates, we give you three original recipes to prepare.

Give your hot chocolate a twist with these recipes

1. Chili Spice Hot Chocolate
We know it sounds a little weird but it’s not. In fact, the flavor of cocoa stands out a lot when you add spices.
Need:
- Milk (2 cups)
- Dark chocolate (about 100 g, chopped)
- Sugar to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of chili powder
Preparation:
- Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
- Add the chopped dark chocolate and stir until completely melted.
- Add sugar to taste and mix well.
- Stir in the cinnamon powder and a pinch of chili powder.
- Continue stirring until everything is well combined.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
2. Mint Marshmallow Hot Chocolate
Need:
- Milk (2 cups)
- Milk chocolate (about 100 g, chopped)
- Sugar to taste
- Peppermint extract (1/4 teaspoon)
- Marshmallows
Preparation:
- Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
- Add the chopped milk chocolate and stir until completely melted.
- Add sugar to taste and mix well.
- Add the peppermint extract and stir to incorporate.
- Serve in mugs and garnish with marshmallows.
- If desired, you can toast the marshmallows for a hint of smoky flavor.
3. Caramelized Orange Cinnamon Hot Chocolate
Need:
- 2 cups milk
- 100 g dark chocolate (with a high percentage of cocoa)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Peel of half an orange, cut into strips
- 1 pinch of salt
- Whipped cream and chocolate zest for garnish (optional)
Preparation:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, heat the milk and cinnamon stick until almost boiling.
- Melt the chocolate in a microwave in adouble boiler or at short intervals in the microwave.
- Add the melted chocolate to the hot milk and mix well until incorporated.
- Add the sugar and a pinch of salt. Stir well.
- Add the strips of orange peel to the mixture and let it infuse for about 5 minutes.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and orange peel strips from your chocolate.
- Serve the hot chocolate, washwith whipped cream and chocolate zest if you’re craving it.
